Petzl Rescusender Mechanical ascenders cannot tolerate a sudden shock load; they could tear or cut the rope. The Rescusender is designed not to damage the rope. If shock loaded, the rope will slip through the device until the load is dissipated to a safe non-damaging level. Accepts 7/16-inch and 1/2-inch rope. Maximum safe working load 600 lbs.
